He became the architect of Advanced Illness Management (AIM) at Sutter Health, leading the charge to bring compassionate care to those facing serious and terminal illness. His efforts garnered a $13 million grant from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, and his visionary leadership earned him a place among the Top 20 HealthLeaders Difference-Makers in the U.S.

Yet, as monumental as those achievements are, Dr. Stuart’s greatest contribution may lie in the deep insights he shares in his book Facing Death: Spirituality, Science, and Surrender at the End of Life.
