On today's episode of Yours Mentally we talk about Attachment Styles. This episode is in conversation with Zarana Mithani who is a Counselling Psychologist.
We begin the episode by asking Zarana what are attachment styles and why are they important in an individual’s psychological development?
We then go on to talk about what the 4 types of attachment styles are and ask Zarana to elaborate on each one of them.
We also ask her what kind of caregiving and childhood experiences lead to a person developing an anxious attachment style?
We then ask her to talk about the differences between the probable childhood of a person with a secure attachment style and a person with an avoidant attachment style.
We also speak about which attachment style does a person with childhood trauma develop?
We then ask Zarana whether people commonly stick to a single attachment style or are they a mix of a few?
We also ask her whether a person can exhibit different attachment styles in different relationships at the same point in their life?
We then ask Zarana how one can recognise the attachment styles of their potential partner in a romantic relationship (is it even a Yours Mentally episode if Aman does not ask something about relationships)
Lastly, we ask if it is possible for a person to change their attachment style? If yes, what are some ways they can do so?
