Welcome to The Coaching Lab’s 'Dopamine Unplugged' episode, where we dive into the fascinating world of dopamine—our brain’s supposed superstar neurotransmitter! Is it really the 'happiness chemical,' or are there more nuanced truths behind its role in motivation and behavior? Today we’ll be debunking common myths, explore the latest research, and uncover how understanding dopamine can empower us to create healthier habits and make lasting change. Whether you're a neuroscience enthusiast or just curious about how your brain works, we’ve got something for everyone.

Today’s guest, Dr. Talia Lerner, will be our guide through today’s unplugging process. She is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Neuroscience and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCSF, and completed her postdoctoral work at Stanford University. It took us almost 2 years to tee up this interview with Dr. Lerner, and I think you’ll discover it was well worth the wait!
