Joining from San Diego via zoom is Dr. Brooke Bartlett, a licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years of specialized training with first responders, military, and their loved ones, and can work with anyone in California and Florida. Dr. Bartlett is also an accomplished researcher with dozens of scientific contributions examining trauma and stress amongst our community. Also, she has trained at some of the nation's most renowned institutions for PTSD and anxiety.
Dr. Bartlett founded the center for trauma, anxiety, and stress. Offered services range from therapy, first aid, PTSD assessment, assisting public safety agencies, and clinical consultation.
Dr. Bartlett has worked at the VA San Diego Healthcare System, Houston Fire Department, National Center for PSTD VA Boston Healthcare System, Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, to name a few. Having worked at several VA's, Dr. Bartlett has worked with combat veterans dating back to the Korean War.
We discussed the importance of annual check ins with departments, how suicidal ideations within the community are extremely common, and where the fine line is between openly sharing that a person wants to die and then having a plan attached to it.
