In this episode, we have the privilege of interviewing an experienced and dedicated emergency room nurse who just so happens to be my VERY best friend, Shannon Johnston!!!! With over 13 years of firsthand experience (just in emerg!) Shannon shares her challenges and stories from the fast-paced world of the emergency department.

From the adrenaline-filled moments of walk in stab victims, to the emotional roller coaster of dealing with a potential dying brand new mother, Shannon shares all the highs and lows that come with the territory. She paints a vivid picture (BIG BERTHA!!) of the chaotic environment, where split-second decisions can make all the difference.

Join us as we explore the unique challenges faced by ER nurses - yes they are first responders- including the emotional toll of witnessing human suffering, the delicate balance of empathy, respect, and professionalism, and the importance of self-care in preventing burnout. Shannon's stories will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes in emergency departments around the world.

Get ready for an eye-opening and heartwarming conversation with the incredible emergency room nurse, Shannon Johnston.
Season 3 is proudly sponsored by Alberta Defensive Tactics Training owned by local Peace Officer Jamie Erickson.
