Ormond Beach, FL -- Cindi DuMond has a unique set of credentials with a common theme: helping people who are clearly in pain. She is an RN, a former Funeral Director, and a Certified Adult Chair ® Master Coach who supports & empowers people who are ready to regulate their emotions while on a journey of grief, loss, and/or trauma. In 2018, after many years of suffering, marriage counseling, a daughter's illness and subsequent disability, she discovered a model that finally helped her succeed on her own journey. Cindi was so enthralled, she became certified in that coaching style, and then launched a business focused on dealing with grief and loss (experiences that range from having your business fail, to kids leaving home for the first time, to miscarriage or abortion, to separating from a relationship, to the death of a loved one, or even due to a violent crime.) “People are made to think our emotions should be stifled. In truth, emotions are our best teacher. I knew that as a nurse. It is important, though, to express our emotions in a healthy way, whether that is through “chair work”, journaling, movement, mindfulness, a hobby, or anything that brings you peace and joy.” Cindi uses a variety of proven tools and techniques to guide people on how to emotionally regulate. The mainstay is The Adult Chair model , which was created by a therapist turned Coach, named Michelle Chalfant and is now a global success. The term is transparent: we all have different personalities inside us, ranging from the attention-seeking child, to the angry adolescent, to a poised adult, and every time we react to stimuli, such as a loss, we have a choice on where we are going to be when we react to it. Sitting in our Adult Chair yields the most optimal results. Cindi coaches clients on breaking the cycle of grief and loss, emotional regulation, navigating loss, and grief recovery. She also has expertise in generational grief: inherited patterns of mourning & grief passed down in the family.. All of these services are under the umbrella of Don’t Despair Coaching . Cindi is appearing on the radio as part of the Empowering Women series, and her mission is one of empowerment. She aims to empower people through her clinical experience, background, compassionate coaching, and proven methodology. She also believes that women and men grieve differently: women are better at pouring their hearts out over coffee with a girlfriend, while men are trained to think being emotional is a sign of weakness. Understanding and expressing emotion is part of the journey to health and inner peace. This is particularly impo[1] rtant when grieving, because grief is not linear as many think, but rather a cyclical process. We can at times go back to a place on our journey, or even feel stuck, and that is when knowing how to cope and regulate are most important. Helping people at tender crossroads was a goal Cindi formed early in life. She would ride along with her busy Father, a floral delivery driver by day, when he made deliveries to funeral homes, and saw what it was like for people dealing with feelings at a most vulnerable time. She vowed to support them and did in all of her career endeavors, which included years as a nurse guiding patients and their families on the use of in-home ventilator equipment along with all it takes to keep a chronically ill child at home. Today, Coaching is full time work, and the name of her practice, Don’t Despair , speaks volumes. Cindi lets clients know it is ok to feel angry one day and okay on another. But whenever we feel bad, we should give ourselves grace, and keep moving forward and try a “chair check in” to cultivate and support the Adult, to navigate challenges more successfully. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from a woman who has gone from Nurse Cindi to a featured speaker at events. Cindi has helped over 1,000 individuals and families navigate grief and achieve transformational healing. She also serves as a suicide prevention gatekeeper and facilitates EFT tapping and breathwork sessions. Cindi sure will heal and enlighten us all with her knowledge, caring spirit and calming tools. The Six Pillars of Character Central to Cherrywood Enterprises’ philosophy is their “Six Pillars of Character” framework, which serves as the company’s foundation. The pillars include: 1. Trustworthiness: Ensuring promises made to clients are kept and products are delivered as described. 2. Respect: Valuing customers by listening and responding to their needs with dignity. 3. Responsibility: Taking ownership of mistakes and making amends by either rectifying issues or offering refunds. 4. Fairness: Engaging in equitable negotiations to reach amicable resolutions, often working with clients on pricing disputes. 5. Caring: Fostering a compassionate workplace and maintaining thoughtful communication with debtors during personal hardships. 6. Citizenship: Actively contributing to the community and supporting charitable organizations like St. Jude’s, Wounded Warrior Project, and Feed My Starving Children. A Commitment to Community and Customers Cherrywood Enterprises stands out not just for its commitment to ethical practices but also for its community involvement. The firm prioritizes giving back, supporting various initiatives, from holiday baskets for clients to substantial donations and causes benefiting veterans and children. “Our commitment is not just to our clients,” Geisler shares, “but also to the broader community and ensuring that our business has a positive impact all around.” Navigating Challenges with Dedicated Solutions Cherrywood Enterprises specializes in purchasing portfolios of charged-off loans, including auto deficiencies, while adhering to state regulations and federal guidelines. Geisler explains, “Our primary aim is to work with debtors to find solutions that respect their circumstances while dodging tactics that could be deemed unethical or predatory.” The company’s strategy involves only partnering with reputable attorneys across states to pursue any legal actions necessary, reinforcing a commitment to professionalism and ethical practices. Looking ahead, Cherrywood Enterprises plans to expand its footprint by setting benchmarks in the industry through its distinctive approach rooted in integrity and community service. “We want to continue being a company that people trust and can rely on, expanding our services while maintaining our core principles,” says Geisler. Lexington, MA – Our guest, who has appeared before on Close Up Radio, jokingly observes that the word “queueing” is a very rare word in the English language that has five vowels in a row. With such a fascination regarding queueing, he has earned the nickname “Dr. Queue”. In addition, he desires to share his fascination and expertise with the general public. This is the story of Richard Larson, a.k.a. “Dr Queue”. Richard Larson has been an operations researcher for over five decades. His success in this area earned him the nickname “Dr. Queue”. “I have won all kinds of awards for my operations research over my decades of career,” Richard notes. In addition, he also describes himself as an “MIT Lifer.” In other words, besides being an alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), starting at age 18 as a freshman, he also is a tenured professor at MIT. Operations research is the world’s most important, invisible profession,” explains Richard. According to Brittanica, operations research (OR) is the “application of scientific methods to the management and administration of organized military, governmental, commercial, and industrial processes.” Queueing, which is a subset of operations research, is defined as the following according to Dictionary.com – “forming in a line while waiting.” His knowledge and expertise have manifested itself in his most recent book, Model Thinking for Everyday Life: How to Make Smarter Decisions . Released in 2023, the book features eleven chapters, designed to take the reader through a journey of model thinking, operations research, and queueing. For his upcoming show, Richard will discuss queueing – the physics of queueing and the psychology of queueing, which is addressed in his book. “Queueing has been with us as long as there have been people on Earth,” Richard shares. However, the modern inventor regarding the science and physics of queueing was established by Agner Krarup Erlang (A. K. Erlang), a Danish telephone engineer, in the year 1919. He also invented traffic engineering. Another notable individual is John D. C. Little, the inventor of Little’s Law. Focusing on the rate of queueing, Little’s Law has established the following mathematical formula. L = λ × W L = time-average number of customers in the system, in queue and in service λ (lambda) = mean arrival rate of customers W = mean time that a customer spends in the system, both in queue and in service A friend of Richard’s once joked, “It may be Little, but it’s the law.” Richard’s main specialty regards the psychology of queueing. “I became fascinated with the psychology of queueing,” Richard corroborates. He will discuss some applications regarding this aspect. This includes the drive-thru at Wendy’s and the mirrors next to elevators in high-rise buildings. “Overall, I feel that the psychology of queueing is more important than the physics of queueing,” notes Richard. Richard concludes about queueing by referring to a quote made by baseball great Yogi Berra – “No one goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.” You may purchase Richard Larson’s most recent book Model Thinking for Everyday Life on Amazon…
Charleston, IL - In today’s rapidly evolving business environment, the key to organizational success lies in effective leadership. Recognizing this essential need, Jason Wyatt, founder of 1Lead Consulting, proudly announces his full-time commitment to transforming the leadership landscape with his specialized consultancy services. Drawing from a diverse background in both the chemical and food industries, Wyatt brings a unique perspective to the field of leadership development, addressing the critical need for what he terms “necessary skills.” With a degree in chemistry and substantial experience overseeing quality assurance and control functions in the chemical industry, Wyatt discovered a gap in conventional leadership training. While many organizations focus heavily on technical proficiency and hard skills, the subtle art of leadership often goes unaddressed. This realization propelled Wyatt to seek certification with the Maxwell Leadership Team and become a 10X Business Coach cultivating a profound understanding of essential but frequently neglected aspects of leadership—such as inspiration, conflict resolution, and goal-setting. Transforming Leadership from a Concept to a Practice 1Lead Consulting is working hard to make leadership a tangible and attainable goal rather than an abstract concept. Wyatt’s approach fills the void left by traditional training programs, enriching leaders with practical tools and strategies for real-world application. He emphasizes the human side of leadership—managing, inspiring, and developing people—through a richly interactive and personalized coaching methodology. “In my coaching, I focus on helping leaders understand and develop their own paths through the challenges they face,” Wyatt explains. “It’s not about providing a formulaic answer, but about fostering individual growth so leaders can confidently align their vision with their team’s efforts.” Tailoring Leadership for Organizations and Individuals Wyatt’s extensive experience makes him uniquely equipped to handle both large corporations and individuals starting or advancing their leadership journeys. He partners with organizations poised for growth but unsure of how to effectively expand their teams. By fostering a culture of leadership—where leading is not just a term but a deeply held company value—Wyatt’s clients exceed at sustainably scaling their operations. By navigating the intricacies of leadership together, Wyatt empowers his clients to cast and execute strategic visions that are both realistic and aspirational. Building Engagement Wyatt tackles addresses a range of organizational challenges from accountability to conflict resolutions. He notes that these concepts are often misunderstood or misapplied, leading to organizational hurdles to success. According to Wyatt, transparency and shared responsibility are pivotal to fostering genuine leadership within teams and organizations. By viewing leadership concepts as a shared process, rather than placing unilateral pressure on employees, organizations can cultivate a more engaged, motivated workforce. Leadership in the Era of Technology and Globalization Wyatt recognizes the potential of AI and other technologies in modern workplaces but stresses the irreplaceable value of human ingenuity and creativity. He envisions a future where AI augments, rather than replaces, human roles, allowing people to focus on tasks requiring emotional intelligence and creativity. “We’re in a global community, and leadership requires understanding and navigating this complexity,” Wyatt asserts. “It’s about balancing technological aid with human skills that drive innovation and connection.” Upcoming Projects and Vision In pursuit of his vision to help 6,000 organizations establish a robust leadership culture by 2035, Wyatt is actively working on his forthcoming book, “Junk Tour Leadership: Nine Tools to Help Declutter Your Team,” set for release in early 2025. The goal of this book is to demystify leadership, providing a clear path from theoretical understanding to practical application. Wyatt’s initiative resonates with the pressing need across industries to bridge the gap between technical competence and the human-centered, strategic decision-making skills that define effective leadership. With 1Lead Consulting, Jason Wyatt is not merely advocating for change—he is actively equipping leaders to make it happen. New Orleans, LA - Dr. Barry Pilson, a renowned psychotherapist specializing in addiction and behavioral change, is redefining the landscape of addiction therapy by integrating the intricacies of brain science with practical techniques to empower individuals towards sustainable recovery. With a clear understanding of how addiction affects the brain’s reward systems and the role of psychosocial environments in recovery, Dr. Pilson’s approach offers hope and clarity for tackling the complexities of addiction. A Neuroscientific Perspective on Addiction Dr. Pilson emphasizes the multifaceted nature of addiction, which is deeply embedded within the brain’s reward system. “Addiction hijacks the survival mechanisms of our brains, redirecting them towards the continuous pursuit of mood-altering substances or behaviors,” explains Dr. Pilson. This understanding challenges simplistic views of addiction as mere moral failings or lifestyle choices, highlighting the brain’s role in perpetuating cycles of addiction due to its adaptation to rewarding stimuli. Crucially, Dr. Pilson notes the absence of a brain-based immune response to addiction. Unlike our body’s defense against viruses or bacteria, we have no immediate internal system to combat addictive behaviors. Consequently, the brain quickly adapts, making the journey to sobriety a profound challenge. The journey to recovery involves a complex reorganization of the brain’s reward pathways. The relapse phenomenon, often misunderstood, is attributed to the brain’s persistent craving and seeking behaviors. “The initial phase of sobriety is the most challenging, and research shows promising recovery rates for individuals who surpass the two-year mark,” Dr. Pilson highlights, pointing to the importance of long-term support systems. Dr. Pilson stresses the critical role of psychosocial environments when facilitating recovery. A supportive social and spiritual setting can be the pseudo-immune system that aids individuals in achieving lasting change. This underscores his advocacy for structured programs that reward healthy behaviors, particularly in challenging scenarios, such as those involving homelessness and addiction, ensuring that compassion is delivered through measurable progress and structured support. Technological Innovation in Behavioral Change Central to Dr. Pilson’s methodology is the concept of the “technology of change.” This approach departs from the myth of instantaneous transformation, advocating instead for a measured and incremental process. Much like an athlete’s rigorous training, behavioral change requires consistent effort, practice, and outcome measurement. This approach debunks the expectation of rapid change by illustrating that long-term success is built through small, deliberate steps. The “technology of change” encompasses strategies to reorganize habits and overcome the automatic responses that govern our lives. “Our behaviors and thoughts are often deeply ingrained, shaped by both internal mechanisms and external environments. True change requires a shift in these ingrained patterns,” explains Dr. Pilson, highlighting the importance of both self-awareness and external environment reform in achieving sustained transformation. The Role of Therapeutic Alliance A strong therapeutic alliance forms the foundation of Dr. Pilson’s practice. The relational dynamics between therapist and client are pivotal to fostering a conducive atmosphere for change. A therapeutic relationship grounded in safety, competence, and validation can serve as a vital catalyst for personal growth and recovery. Implications for Policy and Society Dr. Pilson’s insights extend beyond individual therapy to influence broader policy and societal perspectives. He critiques policies that inadvertently reinforce addictive behaviors, calling for more nuanced approaches that align with the realities of addiction and change. This includes rethinking societal norms and cultural cues that shape how individuals view success and personal well-being. In a world where addiction is frequently misunderstood, Dr. Pilson’s work shines a light on the importance of integrating scientific understanding with compassionate therapeutic practices. His innovative methods not only address the biological and psychological aspects of addiction but also underscore the critical role of socio-environmental influences. For those wanting to explore these pioneering approaches, Dr. Barry Pilson’s practice offers a unique journey towards understanding and overcoming addiction. Through his dedication to marrying science with therapeutic compassion, Dr. Pilson’s work continues to redefine recovery in measurable and meaningful ways. Salem, MA - Renowned throughout the Salem community and beyond, Reverend Barbara Szafranski, affectionately known as The Salem Love Psychic, is inviting individuals to explore the mystical world of psychic readings and spiritual insights. With a unique journey that seamlessly blends practicality and spirituality, Barbara’s compelling narrative and expertise in psychic readings continue to captivate and inspire. A Journey from Numbers to the Unknown Reverend Barbara Szafranski’s path to becoming a distinguished psychic was anything but conventional. An accomplished accountant by trade, Barbara spent her early years entrenched in the financial world, holding degrees in business and psychology. Despite her logical, numbers-driven beginnings, Barbara always held a fascination for the mysterious and the unknown. “I’ve always been interested in the unseen realms,” Barbara shares. “Even before I realized my psychic abilities, I was drawn to the sky and the endless possibilities it symbolized.” It wasn’t until her thirties, amidst the complexities of marriage and motherhood, that Barbara began to experience vivid visions and inexplicable phenomena, marking the beginning of her spiritual awakening. Embracing the Spiritualist Lifestyle While navigating the challenges of early adulthood, Barbara found solace and inspiration in the spiritualist religion—not as a doctrine but as a transformative way of life. “It was a place I could freely explore the spiritual without the confines of traditional religion,” Barbara explains. Her early ventures into fortune-telling, followed by structured classes, cultivated her burgeoning psychic abilities. Under the guidance of mentors and through rigorous self-study, Barbara developed her skills in channeling and spiritual readings. Her commitment to spiritual growth led to leadership roles within her community, including serving as vice president and eventually president of her spiritualist church. There, she honed her abilities to a professional level, laying the groundwork for her eventual business endeavors. As a Priest in the Society of Melchizedek, Reverend Barbara is also a Reiki Master, Polarity Therapist, and Unified Healer. Founding Angelica of the Angels In her fifties, driven by a calling that could no longer be ignored, Reverend Szafranski boldly left behind her marriage and corporate career to embark on a new venture: offering psychic readings through her company, Angelica of the Angels, in downtown Salem. Nestled among the city’s famous witchcraft and spiritual shops, Angelica of the Angels quickly became a beacon for those seeking guidance and insight. “I’m not bragging, but stating a fact—I’m good at what I do,” Barbara asserts with the quiet confidence developed over years of study and practice. Her business thrived, bolstered by her deep knowledge, her genuine connection to spirit, and her ability to connect with clients on a profound level. Barbara’s life as a psychic has been filled with remarkable experiences that defy the ordinary. From witnessing apparitions to conducting powerful healings with the presence of Archangels, these extraordinary moments are testaments to her profound connection with the spiritual world. Her clients have experienced, firsthand, the accuracy and power of her readings and healing sessions. Publishing “Burnt Toast and Oranges” Barbara’s memoir, “Burnt Toast and Oranges,” delves into her unique life experiences, offering readers a glimpse into the world of an unlikely and gifted psychic. The book captures her adventures and the many spiritual insights she has gained—a must-read for those interested in the mystical arts and the life of one of Salem’s most respected psychics. Legacy and Continuing Work Although Barbara has since retired from her shop, her passion for spiritual work has not waned. At 89, she remains active, conducting readings and teaching classes for those eager to learn from her wealth of knowledge. “I may have retired my shop, but I continue to embrace and share my gifts,” Barbara states. Her commitment to supporting and guiding others on their own spiritual journeys remains steadfast, as she offers services like readings, seances, weddings, and house clearings. As she looks to the future, Reverend Barbara Szafranski is filled with a sense of fulfillment and ongoing curiosity about the spiritual path ahead. Reflecting on her life’s journey, she says, “I know there’s something after this life. Whatever it is, I embrace it with love and readiness.” About Reverend Barbara Szafranski With over three decades of experience, Barbara Szafranski is a beloved and highly skilled psychic based in Salem, Massachusetts. Pearl City, HI – Our guest has made it her mission to encourage others that seeking help for mental health should not be stigmatized. “We have all been sad and we have all been scared,” she assures. In addition, she has also been fighting the good fight when it comes to the treatment of mental health patients. While it is currently an uphill battle for her, she remains hopeful. This is the story of Dr. Doreen Fukushima. Dr. Doreen Fukushima is a respected psychiatrist and the founder of Ho'ola Pono. Based on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, Ho'ola Pono, which is Hawaiian for “to make well”, offers unique psychiatry services in addition to standard talk therapy. One specialty treatment that Dr. Fukushima offers is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). “It’s an FDA-approved procedure that treats depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder without medication,” explains Dr. Fukushima. “It’s a magnet that goes outside of the head, and it gives an electrical pulse, similar to an MRI machine. It wakes up the neurons of the frontal part of the brain. Usually with depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, the neurons are not functioning the way they are supposed to. It’s a safe and effective way to jump start the neurons to have them function the way they are supposed to be working.” Another specialty treatment that Dr. Fukushima also offers is Spravato. Also known generically as Esketamine, Spravato is a form of Ketamine, which is an anesthetic medication. One of the unique side effects when people received intravenous Ketamine is that they would wake up very happy. Some have used Ketamine off-label to treat depression. However, it was not covered by insurance and is administered intravenously. Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) eventually created Esketamine, which is a nasal spray. The results are very good in that it helps people get through their past traumas and significant depression. “This makes people feel less guarded and more open to talking, when they are dealing with their traumas,” summarizes Dr. Fukushima. “It also improved the malleability of the brain.” “Very few insurances cover it, but you can fight to get it covered,” she notes. Dr. Fukushima has been enduring considerable legal difficulties regarding the insurance coverage surrounding the use of Spravato as a treatment for her patients, which was approved by the FDA. She even suspects that there may even be some corruption involved regarding the Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) and some legal firms that handle healthcare disputes. The FDA approved Spravato as a mental health treatment in 2019, and HMSA approved its usage in 2020. Also in 2020, Dr. Fukushima received clearance from HMSA to use Spravato as a treatment for her patients. After about a year-and-a-half, Dr. Fukushima gets a nasty letter from HMSA saying that she allegedly used the wrong billing codes and that HMSA would like a full refund of the money they paid her to provide all of these services. Dr. Fukushima maintains that she used the right billing codes, as instructed by HMSA. Dr. Fukushima eventually got an attorney, and the firm called Cades Schutte, assured her that she was compliant with the instructions from HMSA. With the law firm, they went to arbitration to which one of the attorneys working on Dr. Fukushima’s behalf had a panic attack. This led to a chain of unfortunate events where the law firm forced Dr. Fukushima to work with the attorney, despite her reservations. “I lost as badly as anyone could lose,” states Dr. Fukushima. The arbitrator who also happened to be a friend of one of the attorneys in the law firm ruled entirely against her. Much of the corruption that Dr. Fukushima observes is the errors on the part of HMSA, the law firm she hired, who later abandoned and attacked her. The law firm filed a temporary restraining order against her when she asked for help as their poor performance cost her almost $500,000. This poor performance from the law firm also resulted in her being cut off from reimbursements from her biggest patient population – military families who have Tricare insurance. Currently, she has not been paid for eighteen months despite having authorizations for every Tricare patient. However, she continues to treat them and pay for these treatments out of her own pocket. She was also recently put on restriction from Kaiser Permanente after trying to advocate for them to cover Spravato for one of their patients for the first time in Hawaii, even though it is covered by Kaiser Permanente in California. Despite all of that, she remains optimistic regarding the future of her psychiatry practice. Ultimately, she would like to expand – most notably by getting the funds together to purchase her own building. “I want to build something that no one has ever seen before,” Dr. Fukushima notes. Included in this building would be her own pharmacy, a trampoline room, a food court, and even a patient store. “Despite the craziness, I overall love everything that I do in psychiatry,” declares Dr. Fukushima. “It’s a fascinating field.” “There shouldn’t be a stigma with psychiatry,” Dr. Fukushima concludes. “You should come to your psychiatrist when you are having mental health struggles. It is not a weakness to see a psychiatrist. It’s a strength” For more information, please visit https://hoolaponotmshawaii.com/…
