Season 4, Episode 6, Emma Easton on Building Bridges of Trust with Young People

Emma Easton is the Education Manager of Spartans Community Education which provides youthwork led, trauma informed alternative education for primary and secondary children and young people, when mainstream is asking for more than they have to give. She works within these nurturing settings and leads a committed team of youth workers, teachers, volunteers and befrienders who know that relationships are at the heart of learning.
Emma taught English in mainstream secondaries for 23 years and was a Literacy
Development Officer for the City of Edinburgh Council. She is an associate tutor on the Edinburgh University PGDE course and has published one journal paper in the Scottish Affairs journal on ACES looking at the practical ways in which Spartans ‘Builds the Bridge of Trust’ with young people. She joined The Spartans Community Foundation’s Alternative Education team 9 years ago and has a particular interest in supporting the mental health of all young people and is on a journey to understand more about the presentation of autism and adhd in girls and women.
