In this episode, I'm chatting with Danielle Bernock. Danielle is an international, award-winning author, speaker, podcast host, trauma informed self-love coach and founder of 4F Media. She helps men, women and organizations take ownership of their choices, find their purpose and uses her S.E.L.F. framework to help you truly embody the mantra ‘love yourself from survive to thrive’.

Danielle mentions that her mother came to her and asked to work on their relationship. I think that’s wonderful and I’m so happy that the two of them got to experience that connection on a whole new level with a greater understanding of one another than ever before. I just want to add something in there…if that’s not something possible for you - for a variety of reasons, maybe your mother is no longer living, maybe you’ve gone complete no-contact, maybe she is never going to be the person to do enough work to show up in a different way like this….you didn’t do anything wrong. It’s not your fault. It’s not for lack of trying on your part. It doesn’t bear any reflection of your worthiness of love. And it’s okay to feel all the feelings that that might bring to the surface for you.

In this episode you'll learn:

  • A classic trauma response so many survivors rely on to dismiss the severity of what they’ve lived through
  • Giving yourself permission to acknowledge you have trauma that needs healing
  • The power of the words we use with others, and with ourselves
  • Why the lens we view our trauma from is so important, because adults and children process it very differently
  • How we can sometimes be triggered by our own kids when they reach the same age our own traumatic experiences happened at
  • Digging into our triggers and exploring the lessons we can learn from them and the subconscious stories they replay in our lives

A radical mother is a woman poised in her power ready to disrupt cycles of generational trauma running through her family like wildfire. She's working to improve her life, the lives of her children, and shape the landscape of her community. If that's you - you're in the right place.
This podcast is designed to connect you with resources, inspiration, and the reminder that you are not alone as you embark on your journey of radical mothering.
I’m your host Christa Bevan and I’m a nervous system educator for cycle breaker moms as well as a certified TRE (trauma releasing exercises) provider, and a trauma-informed yoga instructor. And of course, a fellow Radical Mother. My approach to this work blends neuroscience backed tools and heart-centered intuition.
