Psychosis and me is the story of me, Jason Paul, your host. The aim of this podcast is to raise awareness and support anyone experiencing psychosis, whether first hand, or supporting someone with it. I suffered and was diagnosed with Psychosis in October 2019. I will share my first-hand experiences of how I felt and what happened to me, as well as right through my recovery to current day. I will also speak with my Mum, Kim. She will share her story about what she believed caused it and what happened through her lenses and experiences. This will be a honest and frank story that will be difficult to relive, so please bear with me. This story will include references to drug abuse and substance addiction, sexual assault, the police, domestic violence and LGBT matters. My hope is this podcast will provide support, hope and faith. Current day I run a multi-million company I founded with no investment, just savings. I am recording this podcast under the name of Jason Paul for my privacy at this time.

In this episode I talk through the period of my life whilst I was a serving Metropolitan Police probationary officer (2009). I will talk about how I was sexually assaulted on multiple occasions by my then line manager, a serving Metropolitan Police Sergeant. I have recorded this episode today, on the day that Baroness Louise Casey has released a report into the culture and standards of the Metropolitan Police Service. Baroness Casey was tasked with the investigation after serving police officer Wayne Couzens murdered Sarah Everard. She told the BBC that institutional racism, sexism and homophobia were present "across the organisation". Author of landmark report says Met can ‘no longer presume that it has the permission of the people of London to police them’ The Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has said that he accepts Baroness Casey's "diagnosis". I have struggled to find the strength to record this episode as it contains the details of the traumatising sexual assaults I experienced. I have tried on two occasions to record it but just couldn't get all the words out. This report today has given me the jolt I needed to try and get my story out there, in the hope to help others. I will share with you what's currently going on in my life right now, it involves the police and directly relates to the story I am trying to tell. I felt I needed to explain why I am struggling to tell this story, because the whole matter is very much alive right now. This episode is dedicated to the other victim, you know who you are. I hope you have the strength to carry on another day. You called me a hero for trying to tell my story, of suffering, also at the hands of Sergeant S. I also feel you are a hero for dealing with what you are dealing with. We have never spoken or met each other, but we are fighting to have our stories heard. All episodes are unedited so that I can speak with my truest words and don't have to painfully listen back at this time. In this episode my mum (Kim) and I talk about my recovery, from the point of diagnosis right through my three years under the care of the Early Interventions team (NHS first episode psychosis recovery team). We will talk through adverse reactions to a medication, aripiprazole, which led to extreme muscle cramps, suicidal thoughts, unable to leave a dark room and other symptoms. We will also talk through when and how we felt the psychotic thoughts stopped. All episodes are unedited so that we can speak with our truest words and don't have to painfully listen back at this time.
