A Note From Becca: There is a point in this interview where I translate the Malay word "bapok" as "faggot". Google says this is incorrect, and offers definitions like "transexual" instead. They're both not wrong. Like many colloquial terms (slurs or otherwise) used on queer folk, translating to proper English results in lost nuance. I encourage you to run this by anyone who uses these terms on themselves, ask them what the word means, and check that against a dictionary definition.
