Before salvation, we are enemies of God. We are sinful; haters of God, who have no ability to understand God or His ways. We are dead, and we are worthless. Our every intention is evil because it is not grounded in God. This is what “total depravity” means. But, when God saves us, all of that immediately changes. He gives us a complete positional change. We are not just chosen and saved by God, we are adopted by God – we are His son or daughter with all of the rights that any natural born child would have.
When we were saved, God did not just change our soul or our heart. We are a new creation – from head to toe! He even tells us we are born again of God. So it follows that our Christianity is all-consuming. It should affect every single aspect of our life.
