‘Living with Ovarian Cancer Podcast’ is full of inspiring stories told by people who are living with or have a connection with Ovarian Cancer. Each person’s story is a gift; unique and is told from the heart in their own words. I am your host, Diane Evans-Wood. Please subscribe to the Podcast and leave a review so that the show becomes more visible to listeners. In this episode I talk to Jo Fjelle, who describes how she endured many years of concern over her potential to develop cancer due to her family medical history. Sadly, she was not taken seriously and was unable to have the vital genetic testing that was required to ascertain her risks of developing Breast and Ovarian Cancer. Eventually she did develop Ovarian Cancer and after having the BRCA test, which she paid for privately, Jo found out that she was BRCA 2 positive. For this reason, Jo elected to have a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy. Jo’s story really is quite concerning given that she was so sure that she was at risk of developing cancer, yet I couldn’t fail to be inspired and uplifted by her story at the same time. Jo has such a zest for life and she has the biggest, kindest heart. I hope you enjoy listening to her story. In this episode Jo mentioned Ovacome which can be found here: https://www.ovacome.org.uk We also mentioned other sources of support which can be found here: https://targetovariancancer.org.uk https://www.macmillan.org.uk https://ovarian.org.uk Thank you so much for listening to ‘Living with Ovarian Cancer’. Disclaimer: Each story in this Podcast is unique to the woman who is telling it. The content of each episode and the views expressed are not meant to be a substitute for medical advice or intervention. You will hear stories of women who sought alternative therapies, integrated oncology services or even choosing to decline treatment options. However, this is their story, and I am not advocating that you follow the path of any one woman who features in the podcast. If you have a diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer, please make sure that you discuss anything that is going to affect your treatment or wellbeing with your own Medical team. You are unique and so what’s right for one woman may not be right for you!
