Today on the podcast we chat with Founder/MD of Evenfield Entertainment, Kerry Fulton about the power of female representation in TV & Film, and the impact that financing female stories in the entertainment business can have on the next generation.
Kerry Fulton is the Founder/MD of Evenfield Entertainment and is working on a slate of films written and directed by women; she is currently packaging three feature films. Originally from New Zealand, Kerry has lived in the USA this time since 2013. Recently, she completed an MBA at NYU Stern School of Business. While at Stern, she showcased her tech and business skills when she launched a tech startup into the market. In 2017, the NYU Production Lab tapped her to research and write a report taking a look back and a look forward and make recommendations on how they could enter the Television market. In 2014, Kerry developed a TV series with talented first-time writers. The series was sold to CBS, where it is now in development hell. She has since co-written the bible and pilot for another series; this second series is about the extraordinary men and women who built the iconic Manhattan skyline.
During her time in Spain, Kerry worked for Columbia Producciones Espana (Sony special projects’ European unit). As part of a very small team of 5, she worked directly with the US head of Columbia Pictures (Sony), Studio Vice Chair GARETH WIGAN. CPE produced local language productions in Spain, Italy, and France, including LUCA GUADAGNINO’s first feature MELISSA P.. For five years, Kerry was the Madrid point person for Sony’s LA international finance department. She supervised budgets and ran post-production on numerous films. credited as both Executive Producer and Producer of JUSTIN AND THE KNIGHTS OF VALOR ($21.8M), a 3D children’s animated film that was the directorial debut of Spanish director Manuel Sicilia. The film was nominated for a Goya in 2014 and stars SAOIRSE RONAN, ANTONIO BANDERAS, FREDDIE HIGHMORE, ALFRED MOLINA, JULIE WALTERS, and MARK STRONG. Originally, Kerry was hired to raise the financing for the project; ultimately, she commissioned a rewrite, packaged with A-list British talent, and pre-sold the project in more than 100 countries -- all within a year of the film’s completion. During this time, Kerry also produced the Spanish-language feature documentary ANA AND I. Developed at Euro-Doc, Ana and I is a Finnish/Spanish co-production that was selected for a number of international film festivals and streams on numerous streaming channels including Amazon Prime. She co-produced ANCESTORS AMONG US with NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL. After one year on the job, she was promoted (and doubled her salary) to SVP of STV12, overseeing both acquisitions and original programming for the channel. She is currently a member of the Producers Guild of America, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, and Gotham. She was previously a Board Member for New York Women in Film and Television
