Jeanne Celestine Lakin - Rwandan genocide survivor's story - forgiveness, joy & the human condition
Manage episode 303351429 series 2876651
Rwandan genocide survivor, Jeanne Celestine Lakin, was only 9 years old when she managed against all odds to make it through one of the most horrific genocides in history. Jeanne's story is a tale of heroism, cruelty, propaganda, trust in God, the lowest lows and the highest highs that humanity can reach.
I honestly was a little nervous about this interview. I had read her book, A Voice in the Darkness, which is an amazing read that I highly recommend. (See how to order the book below)
Rape, abuse, being orphaned and witnessing the genocide of her people didn't break her; it transformed her into a forgiveness and love machine. Jeanne is a living testimony to the strength and resilience of the human spirit. I have never been more honored and uplifted by a guest.
One Million Orphans is the name of Jeanne's foundation.
