Understanding Narcissistic Future Faking
In the beginning, the narcissist will sweep you away by painting a dazzling picture of your future together—talks of marriage, kids, dream holidays, or maybe that forever home. But then, as time goes on, none of it ever materialises. That’s future faking, a manipulative tactic narcissists use to hook you emotionally while avoiding any real commitment.
In this episode, I explain how future faking works and why it’s such a powerful tool in the narcissist’s playbook. By dangling a "perfect future" just out of reach, they keep you invested and distracted while their behaviour doesn’t match their promises. I explore the devastating emotional toll this takes on victims, from shattered dreams to self-doubt and confusion.
I explain why and how narcissists use future faking to control their relationships, and how to protect yourself from falling into their traps. Whether you’ve experienced this in a romantic relationship, a family dynamic, or even at work, this episode is packed with practical advice to help you break free and rebuild your trust in yourself.
