Here are some key points from the conversation: Kute Blackson had an unusual childhood, being born in Ghana to a Ghanaian father and Japanese mother, growing up in London. He always felt like an outsider, and this drove him to question his identity and purpose from a young age. His father was a faith healer and built churches. Kute began speaking in his father's churches at age 8 and was ordained as a minister at 15, expected to take over his father's ministry. But at 18, Kute knew this was not his true path and he had to follow his own soul's calling, which caused a rift with his father. Kute came to the U.S. at 18 with very little money, determined to follow his passion for personal growth and self-help. He overcame fear, depression and heartbreak to walk his own path. Surrender is open-hearted acceptance and participation in what life brings. It's embracing what is and using it for growth and evolution. Acceptance can still have resistance. Surrender is fully embracing. In between is grieving, fully feeling and releasing the past to open to the new. We have to acknowledge life and growth are difficult. Staying stuck is painful too. Be willing to feel the pain to spur change. Start with radical truth of how you feel. Truth sets you free. See yourself as eternal soul on a journey, using all for learning. Surrender to the curriculum. Don't bypass grief. Feel it fully. Thinking about grief is not feeling it. Be with the sensation. Kute's book is The Magic of Surrender.
