Human Behavioural Change And Improving Our Relationships With The Travelling Community
Manage episode 359587863 series 3451139
We are joined by Malcolm Morley, President of the British Veterinary Association, and Nicola Berryman, welfare veterinary surgeon at Redwings Horse Sanctuary, to discuss the relationships with the traveller community and address the welfare concerns people have about traveller-owner horses.
We discuss what human behavioural change means and how we can influence
preconceptions about travellers that are commonly held in the veterinary community. By changing the way we present information to our clients, we have an excellent gateway to a good relationship with improved compliance.
Both Nicola and Malcolm have worked at the infamous Appleby Horse Fair. We learn about what part veterinarians play in the fair, if they are welcomed and how welfare standards are being celebrated by everybody involved.
We also address the feelings of uncertainty about starting to work within the
travelling communities and how the veterinary profession can become an ally and a force for real social change.
