Most DOCTOR WHO fans know the tragic story of the “missing episodes” – individual installments and occasionally entire stories from the early days of the show, wiped or junked by the BBC sometimes only shortly after they were aired, never to be seen again. Most of the losses centered around the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) eras, but as the decades have passed there have been a number of surprising and very welcome recoveries. Missing episodes have been found and returned to the BBC from all over the globe, and as of 2013 there were 106 episodes still missing…until now.

This October – and appropriately enough in the show’s 50th anniversary year – the largest haul of recovered episodes in the last 25 years or more has been announced: nine episodes that restore one Second Doctor story and nearly complete another.

Now available on iTunes as digital downloads (find the link below) and soon to appear on DVD at the end of this year and the beginning of 2014, the six-episode Second Doctor story “The Enemy of the World” is complete for the first time since its airing in 1967-1968, and the subsequent tale “The Web of Fear” is now lacking only its third episode. Both stories are treasures beyond imagining for fans to either revisit or see for the very first time.

Scott and Arnold are two of those fans, and they’re joined in this very special “Satellite” episode by Stephen Graves, online deputy editor of Stuff.tv and co-host of The Naked Scarf podcast. Stephen was fortunate enough to attend the BBC’s press conference on Thursday, October 10, 2013 that announced the recovery of the episodes and gave those in attendance the chance to watch two of them alongside stars Frazer Hines and Deborah Watling, who appear as the Doctor’s companions Jamie and Victoria in both adventures.

Join the guys as they celebrate the “new” episodes and speculate on what the future may hold for the ongoing “missing episode” hunt!
