"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. " - Albert Schweitzer

Gratitude, what is it and how do you practice it on a daily basis?

Gratitude. It is a positive emotion that involves being thankful and appreciative.

Gratitude turns what little you have into ABUNDANCE.

Gratitude is so much more than saying thank you.

Gratitude changes your perspective of the world.

So how can you find the positive when everything seems so bleak? When it seems there is nothing to be grateful for.

Gratitude is an emotion similar to appreciation. The American Psychological Ass -ocation defines it as a sense of happiness and thankfulness in response to a fortunate happenstance or tangible gift.

Gratitude is being able to recognize that the sources of goodness lie outside of self. For instance, you can be grateful for the creator, other people, your animals the world but not yourself.

Gratitude has all but diminished in our society. Possessions and health are "expectations" for many people rather than considered "blessings" that are appreciated. For many, it has been replaced with disappointment, anger, and resentment when what we are "expecting" does not appear or disappears.

There are so many positive effects of experiencing and expressing gratitude.

**Tye Dutcher, an international paralympic athlete, descibes in a horrifying accident when he was 11 years old, how gratitude changed and continues to change his life. After trying to scare his father on a riding mower, his father did not see him and back up which ended up cutting his foot off in two areas. He explains, holding tears back, that his thankfulness is for what he has gone through, has and the blessings he will receive. He tells how his Father was dealing with torment of hurting and changing his son's life and how his gratitude, he says knowing that his accident happened for a reason, was helping his father cope. How gratitude, was turning his situation to, Optimism, Selflessness, Spirituality, Empathy and being more self-confident, with now one foot, which all leads to true happiness. He went on to win a bronze metal

Gratitude triumphs over tragedy. When practiced daily, it will become the normal response to a tragedy as you work through it.

Rejoice always, and give thanks in all circumstances - mental attitude. It is not easy, but keep practicing gratitude.

Gratitude is a perspective – it is a choice.

Some are naturally prone to experiencing gratitude more than others. But gratitude is also something that you can learn and practice more often. It isn't so complex or challenging. The more your practice it, the better you will become and put yourself into a grateful state of mind!

Think about it.

- Do you feel like you have a lot to be thankful in your life?

Pausing for a moment to appreciate something or someone, and giving thanks for it can help you feel a greater sense of gratitude.

- If I asked you to make a list of all the things you are grateful for, how long would your list be?

Learn to observe the moment. Are there people who have done something for you?

- When you look at the world, can you find many things to be grateful for? Learn to focus on the experience and allow yourself to take in all those good feelings.

- Do you frequently experience moments where you appreciate someone or something?

Gratitude is all about recognizing and appreciating people, things, and moments that bring joy, peace, or comfort into our lives.

We may feel grateful for our upbringing, family, job, friends, good health etc. While this is very important, it is also important to venture below the surface.

We you look beyond the surface, you see the everyday pleasures that often go unnoticed. It might be as simple as laughing with a friend, reading a good book, eating your favorite desert or enjoying the sunshine. Consciously expressing our gratitude for them helps us grow our daily gratitude practice beyond the surface level. Deeper.

When you realize that there are people in the world who care about you and are looking out for your interests, it can help you recognize your value and the values of others.

You got this! I believe in you!!
