Bio:

David D. Farnsworth, MD, specializes in family medicine at the East Layton Tanner Clinic.

After earning his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University, Dr. Farnsworth went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at top-tier Georgetown University, in Washington DC. In 2008, he completed a three-year residency in family medicine at Saint Louis University.

After his residency, Dr. Farnsworth practiced family medicine in the United States Air Force while stationed in Japan, Korea and Germany. During those times, he served as the Medical Director for two multi-specialty primary care clinics, and was appointed as the Chief of the Medical Staff and Ancillary Services Director (lab, pharmacy, and radiology) for his base while in Germany. In 2015, he returned to his home state of Utah to serve as the Flight Commander for the Flight Medicine clinic at Hill Air Force Base.

During his seven years living abroad in the Air Force, Dr. Farnsworth traveled to about 40 countries. Thanks to these experiences, he has become an expert in travel medicine and loves to help patients prepare medically for travel abroad experiences.

Furthermore, through providing care for the country’s troops, Dr. Farnsworth gained a wealth of experience in musculoskeletal medicine and sports medicine and has published research within these fields.

In addition to his interests in travel and sports medicine, Dr. Farnsworth enjoys helping patients with mental health concerns like depression and anxiety. He also enjoys using his undergraduate education in family and marriage relations and human development to aid his patients. He also offers flight physicals for (non-military) pilots.

Dr. Farnsworth and his wife are happy to be home in Utah with their five children. Besides travel, he is passionate about music, foreign languages and running (he is a former BYU cross country runner and recently completed his first, of what’s sure to be many, marathons).

Dr. Farnsworth is fluent in German and Polish.
