Today we have the first interview in a series of interviews with activists about how their faith has influenced their activism.

Today's guest is Mycroft Masada (they/them). Mycroft is a nonbinary trans and queer Jewish and interfaith leader with more than 30 years of experience, particularly called to pursue LGBTQ+, fat and illness/disability justice and liberation. Mycroft is a Fat Torah board member and a TransEpiscopal Steering Committee member, as well as a chapter author in the nonfiction anthologies “OtherWise Christian 2 : Stories Of Resistance” (2020) and “OtherWise Christian 3 : What Shall Prevent Me?” (2023). They created and run the Westminster Flabby fat liberation social media project, and co-admin the DMV Fat-Friendly Community. They’re also a guest blogger for Goodwill of Greater Washington’s Finding Your Good. Mycroft is an advocate, organizer, consultant, educator, trainer, writer, artist, and thrifter. They moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland (Montgomery County next to Washington DC) from Boston in 2014, and live with their spouse J McCrossin and two dogters.

Mycroft and I talk about fat, illness, and disability justice; what it means to be Jewpiscopalian; why their faith is important to them and integral to their work; and so much more. This is a longer episode, but I think you will love the conversation we have. You can find Mycroft on Instagram or Twitter (@mycroft_masada on both). They are also on Facebook if you are there.

In two weeks, we will have an interview with Robin Lombard, who works with the MoCo Pride Center and Montgomery County Public Schools.
