If you're using this teaching as content for a small group setting, we've included some discussion questions as well.
1. Read Luke 6:46-49
What is the most interesting part of this analogy? What is the most significant?
2. What does Jesus say about posers/hypocrites?
3. What does it look like to be a person in progress?
4. How can you tell if you are a person in progress or a poser?
5. Read Matthew 15:1-11. This passage talks about how you can tell those who follow Christ by the fruit they bare. Healthy fruit is a byproduct of a healthy relationship with Jesus, and Luke 6:46-49 talks about building a firm foundation in Christ. Some people look at their lives and if they are baring fruit or not, but this can be condemning and negative, instead, we need to ask the question, am I building a foundation on Jesus. It takes time, and it may not bare the fruit you see in the people around you, but you are a person in progress.
How can you build a foundation on Christ as a person in progress?
Finish your time together by praying that we would be people in progress and posers of the faith.
