Manage episode 347143335 series 3413422
Emmett Shelton, Sr. (1905-2000) was the Original Developer of Westlake Hills. He recorded his history of the area to share with the community, even after he was gone.
In this Episode, Emmett tells stories about the Chambers Survey which composes the Central part of Westlake Hills - Old Stonehedge. He paid $2,000 for 500 acres.
The oldest house was built by the Navarro family in 1872. Emmett abstracted the area. It changed hand several times in the 1800s. A man named Stelfox built a division with 50 foot lots and paid off debts with the lots. Mr. McCoulough became interested in investing and built a home near a spring on Bee Creek. He built the McCoulough Land and Cattle Company and his family helped start our community.
