A family-driven career break can be the start of your next big thing. That was certainly the case for my guest on this week’s Money, Career & Motherhood podcast.

Kathryn Wepfer was a highly accomplished working professional excited about her work, until the birth of her second child. When she was unable to extend her maternity leave after her second daughter was born, Kathryn did something she never expected to – she quit her job to spend more time bonding with her new daughter.

While out on her extended break, Kathryn did something else she hadn’t expected to do – start a business. Now, as the founder of Fulcrum Apparel, Kathryn is able to improve the return to work experience for new working mothers, use her professional skills, and be an active and engaged mother.

About the Guest: Kathryn Wepfer is the founder and CEO of Fulcrum Apparel, workwear for pumping mothers. She began her career as a mechanical engineer for General Electric, earned an MBA from MIT, and spent much of her career in various roles at Microsoft. After the birth of her second daughter she pivoted to entrepreneurship with an idea sparked by her own journey as a working mother. She founded Fulcrum Apparel in 2019 to elevate workwear for moms navigating the pumping process. Kathryn is dedicated to empowering the female workforce through products and services that enable women to be present in both work and motherhood while achieving all their goals.
