Guests, Robin and Matt talk with Chuck about Deal and a Plan. Chuck starts to lay out the context of a deal and a plan, which extends a previous podcast conversation about having a document. Being intentional is about having a plan, which means you look for what you want, what’s important, and ask “What is it going to do for me?” When it comes to being intimate with someone, you have to be just as intentional; you must have a plan, which should come with a deal. Chuck talks to the guys about seeing themselves and how they will look in the future with that person. This is how to formulate a plan. Next, ask the question, “How do I implement that plan.” Once you have the plan, implement the plan, organize your thoughts, now you start thinking about what to do to sustain the plan from a collaborative perspective. Chuck talks about sustainment is about writing it down in order to attach a document. Moving from plan to deal means having a working document. Give that plan and deal - life by communicating. Matt supports the notion that relationships should be focused around sustainability and having a plan of action as to how you want to move forward with this person. He suggests to keep a relationship journal. Robin shares that she is at a different point in her life; for her, it is about going back to re-evaluate the plan and sit down with that significant other and say, “Let’s look at where we are now, and what season are we in, and where are we going in life?” Furthermore, Robin adds that the assessment should include asking whether the plan still works for both individuals. This is a behavior that developed as she got older; you learn in a relationship that it is not about you. At the end of the day, it is about that other person. Ask the question, “What do I do to make that person happy?” This document is a point of reference in the relationship as to the deal. Chuck continues the conversation why suggesting that it is important to wake up every day, be intentional with your partner. However, if your partner is the last thought of the day for you, you need to change that. You have given them the leftovers; and, that will create a moment. You should state, “I don’t care what the circumstance is right now and what I am facing today, I am going to make that significant other person in my life a priority.” It’s about creating a space that brings peace and joy and happiness that speaks the partner’s language.
