Shandel and Melanie dig into training and development of team members, a conversation sparked by a listener's question about struggles to effectively teach customer service. So often, we move quickly through training and in doing so, don't set our team up for success...and create future obstacles for ourselves.
When training others, it can be easy to assume what's easy for you will be easy for others. In doing this, we can leave gaps in teaching which lead to confusion, frustration and unmet expectations. The Shandel Group team talks through the importance of creating detailed scripts (or SOP's) and checklists to ensure the team has a thorough understanding of what is expected of them. Additionally, practicing and role-playing new skills will help create a foundation for a new skill.
Investing time in thorough training will help set you and your team up for success!
