Self Directed Retirement Accounts (IRA and ROTH) have long been a means to put retirement funds to work creating greater yield by investing in alternative investments -- LLP for Oil & Gas, Minerals, Real Estate---AND private ventures. Many long term employees have climbed the corporate ladder and earned matching funds from their employers to accumulate their golden 'nest egg'.
