In unser 64. Folge haben sich Rudi und Martin mit Jantke de Boer (Juniorprofessorin für International Monetary Macroeconomics an der Ruhr Universität Bochum) über Wechselkurse unterhalten. Es geht darum, welche Rolle Wechselkurse für das Funktionieren des Weltwirtschaftssystems spielen und durch welche Faktoren sie bestimmt werden. Jantke berichtet uns aus ihrer eigenen Forschung darüber wie die Erwartungen, wer die US Präsidentschaftswahlen gewinnen wird, die Wechselkurse verschiedener Länder beeinflussen und warum manche Währungen „stärker“ sind als Andere. Außerdem erfahrt ihr in dieser Folge, warum eine sogenannte „schwache“ Währung vor allem in Krisenzeiten Nachteile mit sich bringt und welche Privilegien die USA durch die Ausgabe des US-Dollars genießt.
