"We're talking about Rock & Roll's progression from a very racially diverse genre which originated in black culture, to something that was picked up by white folks - and more to the problem: black folks' contributions were minimized and whitewashed through history. I incorporated a bit of my own sociological perspective given my academic background, and pull quite heavily from research and essays/opinion pieces written by black authors to better understand this topic."
