The Trump administration anticipates approximately 200,000 federal workers will participate in the deferred resignation program. CBS News has learned that more than 40,000 employees already have. Meanwhile, nearly all 10,000 USAID employees will be put on leave on Friday. While some, like Israel's defense minister, have praised Trump's proposal, many oppose the idea. CBS News' Chris Livesay has more. Residents in Dearborn, Michigan, near Detroit, are reacting to President Trump's comments about "taking over" the Gaza Strip. Dearborn has the highest percentage of Arab Americans of any U.S. city. Egypt and Jordan, along with several other Arab nations, issued a statement condemning President Trump's idea for the U.S. to "take over the Gaza Strip," which he mentioned during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. The plan would include displacing more than 2 million Palestinians, likely for several years. Inside Gaza, President Trump's idea to take over the Gaza Strip has been met with outrage and resistance by Palestinians as they begin moving back to what's left of their homes amid the ceasefire with Israel. CBS News' Chris Livesay has more. Part of President Trump's mass deportation plan includes using local sheriffs to help. However, sheriffs from both political parties say they're short-staffed, short on funds and short on space, which would impact their ability to partner with ICE. National security adviser Mike Waltz joined "CBS Mornings" to talk about President Trump's proposal for the U.S. to "take over the Gaza Strip," which he mentioned in a press conference Tuesday. Waltz discussed where the Trump administration stands on U.S. policy that supports a two-state solution.
