#156: Steve Largent is a NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver who spent 14 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. When he retired he held all of the major NFL receiving records.
Steve played at the University of Tulsa where he was an All American. He was drafted in the 4th round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. After the preseason with the Oilers Steve was cut, but signed with Seattle and the rest is history. During his time in Seattle he was a 7x Pro Bowl selection, 2x NFL Receiving Yards leader, the NFL Man of the Year Award Recipient, just to name a few of his accolades. His number 80 has been retired by the Seahawks and number 83 has been retired by the University of Tulsa. In 1995 he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
However, before all of his football success Steve overcame a lot of adversity from his upbringing with an absent father and alcoholic stepfather, which he shares.
After his time in the NFL he served as a member of the US House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002 and ran for Governor in the state of Oklahoma. He also served as the CEO of CTIA - The Wireless Association for 10 years.
