Manage episode 366067159 series 3464173
While many efforts and programs have improved the opportunities for ethnic minorities to earn advanced degrees and contribute to scientific research, the representation of these groups continues to lag behind those of their Caucasian colleagues. Joining BioChat for this episode is Brooke Sylvester, PhD, a cancer biologist with insights on the continued need to promote inclusion and accessibility to research opportunities.
Topics in this episode include the perspectives of persons of color in navigating the education and research training landscape, the need for advocacy and allies in maintaining momentum and building relationships that can support perseverance, and our hopes for the future with new scientific innovations from a diverse community. We also have a blog post on the ABclonal site that encourages everyone to open their doors to eager and capable candidates from all walks of life.
