Much is made about the creative decisions in ads for the Big Game, but how does all that money, those requisite celebrity cameos, and everything else that goes into these multi-million dollar investments translate into Return on investment? Today weâre going to talk about what the numbers tell us from all those high-profile ads and who the winners and losers of the Advertising Bowl are in 2025. To help me discuss this topic, Iâd like to welcome Nataly Kelly, CMO at Zappi, who unveiled their annual Super Bowl Ad Success report on Monday. With Chelsea safely despatched from the FA Cup last weekend, attentions turned six days later to ridiculous 8pm kickoff part two and a Brighton breezy 3-0 âsweep asideâ of our dearly beloved London visitors! Winning that game meant one double was achieved for the Albion in the shape of back-to-back home wins against Chelsea, but it wasnât the only double for Brighton at the weekend. Thatâs because the other club of note within the city of Brighton and Hove, Whitehawk, were in action the following day for the very tough visit to highflying Dover Athletic, but it was The Hawks who prevailed to make it a glorious double for Brightonâs teams with their surprising 0-2 win. Russ and Jack Albion made the trip down to the corner of Kent to see that fantastic win, taking the opportunity to review Albionâs battering of Chelsea down the pub before kickoff on Saturday. It was just the reaction the boys in the stripes needed to provide and they did so, thanks to an accomplished headed finish from Smiler and a delicious low chipped winner by Mito, leaving an array of objectionable ex-Seagulls in his wake, sprawled pitifully upon the hallowed turf of Albion. Evenings (far too late evenings, thanks a lot ITV you selfish bastards!) donât get much better than this and my oh my did we all enjoy it, even though many had to stay at home to watch on the tellybox (thanks again ITV you selfish bastards!). The considered views of Andy K and Raymond âThe Gentâ Wrighty McWright accompanied the idle ramblings of your erstwhile and consistently nauseating host Russell G - who now seems to have taken to singing pod introsâŠâŠgood grief and lord save us all!!! As well as revelling in the rightful elimination of Chelsea (not completely, they DO still exist unfortunately) the chaps cast an entertained eye over the rest of the weekendâs cup games including Devonâs cream of the crop, cupsetters extraordinaire Plymouth Argyle, perused the 5th Round draw and considered Albionâs prospects for Chelsea (h) Part Two. However it was far from all fun and games and kicking Marc Cockarella ten foot upwards. It was our profoundly sad duty to report to any that hadnât heard already of the devastating loss to us all of Worthing FC club legend Peter Vale. Pete passed away this week following a very recent cardiac arrest. He leaves behind him an array of people harbouring the fondest of memories of his kindness, friendliness, dedication to the club through all his free time generously given up in order to travel the length and breadth of the country commentating on Rebels games and his wonderful sense of humour. Pete has appeared on numerous podcasts, most notably Rebel Yell and latterly The Premier Non League Podcast (PNLP), as well as several guest slots on our own humble platform here. We are devastated to hear the news and canât begin to describe how sadly missed heâll be to all who knew him. The outpouring on social media has been utterly heartwarming, yet entirely unsurprising. We miss you already, Pete. Friend, legend and all round good guy. Stand or fall! UTA! This weekâs Pod Squad comprised a trio of Andys including the lesser spotted Andy Bravery and making his (Zoom pod) debut, Wedge aka Andy Gresty, plus Andy Bass and of course the only 100% man over these 407 pods, Russell G. We wanted to just talk about the weather and the price of fish but felt obligated to discuss something of an aberration by The Trent as Forest, spearheaded by the most nominatively deterministically named player in history, Chris Wood, felled Albionâs severely depleted charges to the tune of 7-0. Also under discussion was an eventful transfer window that marginally strengthened this seasonâs squad with ins (Gomez and Cashin) but weakened it with outs (Fergie, Moder and Enciso), plus other future planning business and some other sales and releases. Loads to talk about so it was another bumper episode. Stand or fall! Russ and Pete saw Everton were heading for the coast and thought âsod that!â, electing to follow The Mighty Rebelsâ fixture over in Kent, in an important promotion six-pointer. Surprise, surprise, the Everton game turned out to be a typically turgid, anti-footballing affair while The Stones v Rebels clash was entertaining and fun. R&P obviously took the opportunity to sample some of the local quaffables pre and post match and had the pleasure to sit down for a chat with some local fans, including Paul, who kindly agreed to have us record our conversation. Yes itâs all about the threes! Another three points as we complete three successive wins at Old Trafford, under three different managers, completing three wins in a row, which happen to all be away wins within the space of one week! Happy days! Albion made their superiority count as they came away with all three points yet again from the Theatre of Leaks. In this episode Russ and Pete were zooming, with plenty of reflections on the game, but only after we heard from our northern correspondence Alastair and Nick, who gave us their thoughts while at the game for a mini MDS. We are UP FOR THE CUP! And we really were on Saturday, riding an early threat from Norwich to eventually romp home 0-4. A great day out, a great performance and some fantastic positives to be taken from the game, including a welcome return for Danny Welbeck, a welcome and sensational appearance from the bench for Solly March, some really good goals including an overdue strike for Julio Enciso and last but by absolutely no means least, a first team debut for young Albion centre back Ruairi McConville, who came on and acquitted himself really well. Russ spoke to his dad and younger brother in the away end at the end of the match and found both family members to be delighted and extremely proud of Ruairiâs debut. Also on the pod we heard from two Davids, Chris, Sam, Molly, Caroline, Will and Clive. So next up, an immediate return to East Anglia with a visit to Portman Road in the Prem. Stand or fall! UTA! The Gent joined Russ online to dissect the concluding half of the double bill with LFC, where our hosts prevailed 2-1 in a closely fought, high quality encounter. They also discuss the rapid and glorious rise of former Albion player Viktor Gyokeres, the continued rise of Albion Women (third in the table!) and a potential new employee to Albionâs key club structure. Thereâs also time for rants at ManUre and Real Embarrassments, I mean Madrid, who had a collective childrenâs tantrum because they didnât get their way. Not fair!!! Stand or fall! UTA!
