Explore the deepest part of the ocean; Fly the farthest into space; Grow the heaviest pumpkin; climb the highest mountain. While achieving the great est’s of the world is, well, great, these journeys do not come without warning or consequence. In the case of reaching the highest point on earth, warning signs litter the pathway to the peak. Temperatures that could cause frostbite in seconds; unexpected avalanches; narrow cliff sides that fall to nowhere; and the biggest warning sign of all… bodies. Estimated at over 300, many hiker’s bodies have gone missing, frozen beneath tons and tons of snow and ice. However there are some bodies that serve as landmarks to other hikers who dare to reach for yet another “Est”.
