Welcome to the second episode of the Setting Clear Expectations series.

In this second episode, we'll discuss 6 definitive ways you can ensure you set clear expectations with your team so that there is absolutely no confusion!

Here they are:

  1. Expectations must be realistic and obtainable
  2. Staff need to have clear objectives and must be linked to key results - understand what success will look like, provide context and further clarity where required
  3. Expectations must be measurable and linked to metrics
  4. Staff must be kept accountable & offered support
  5. Expectations and staff need to have clear deadlines and timeframes
  6. Expectations must be Communicated and documented

Setting clear expectations is crucial for effective leadership. When a leader communicates their expectations clearly, team members have a precise understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and performance standards.

This clarity minimises confusion, reduces the likelihood of misunderstandings, and fosters a sense of direction and purpose within the team. Moreover, clear expectations provide a basis for accountability, enabling leaders to measure and evaluate team performance objectively.
