In this episode of the 2024 Kathryn Bigelow Marathon we are joined by our good buddy Jak to talk about The Weight of Water. Over the course of our conversation, which is arguably more interesting than the movie itself, you will hear us talk about possible reasons why this film came to exist in the first place, what may have drawn Bigelow to the project and why it was initially shelved for a year, only to be dumped into cinemas with very little marketing behind it. We also talk about doing research on a boat, the many problems with how this movie weaves historical fiction with present-day pretentious romance, and how Liz Hurley's presence may be the only saving grace for this film.
