Manage episode 386782515 series 2131080
David Mordechai Packouz, born on February 17, 1982, is a former American arms dealer, musician, and inventor. He partnered with Efraim Diveroli in 2005 to establish AEY Inc., which secured numerous contracts, including a $300 million deal with the U.S. government in 2007. This contract, aimed at supplying the Afghan Army, faced controversy as the ammunition originated from China, violating the contract terms. Packouz played a role in covering up this information. Following legal consequences, he was sentenced to seven months of house arrest for conspiracy to defraud the United States. Despite this, Packouz later turned his focus to music technology, inventing the BeatBuddy, a guitar pedal drum machine. He is currently the CEO of Singular Sound, a music technology company. In 2016, Singular Sound collaborated with the non-profit organization Guitars Over Guns to provide BeatBuddy equipment to underprivileged youth. Packouz, a central figure in the 2016 film War Dogs, has a daughter named Amabelle Jane, born in 2007. This episode is brought to you by Authors Unite.
