Star Trek had an uncanny way of looking into the future and predicting future technologies and ideas that would manifest in society 20 to 30 years in the future. Think about it: Communicators (cell phones), talking computers (A.l.), replicators (3D printing), The Borg (transhumanism) and the Photon Torpedo (Direct Energy Weapons). The list goes on and on and on. So, naturally having been a Trekie all my life, I wanted to find out more. So I reached out to some friends that know much more about Star Trek and the topics than I do.
