In this episode of The Mama Psychedelia Podcast, I interview Taylor Valera, “the sound bowl mom,” she’s a mother to two, her two year old son and newborn daughter. Along with being a mama, Taylor is a plant medicine advocate, sound bath practitioner and reiki master, who shared her wisdom on healing through her personal experience and guided thought. I love Taylor’s authentic vulnerability in this conversation, as well as her beautiful platform. In this discussion, Taylor touches on her own pregnancies, the joys and challenges, her spiritual journey with sound, reiki, herbs and plant medicine such as psilocybin and cannabis. We talk about ancestral healing on her mother line, the taboos of medicine work, her own experience of being a women of colour in the psychedelic space, along with so much more. Taylor shares how mushrooms have brought deeper presence into her parenting, and healing to her heart and her history. Taylor shares how her pregnancy unfolded from disconnection after a hurricane in New Orleans in her early pregnancy to deepened connection along the journey. We discuss Taylor’s vision of having a home birth with her second child, and although she ended up transferring for her birth, she had an incredible support system, and profound lessons of surrendering to what is came through, on the other side came a healthy babe and mama. Thank you Taylor for all that you shared with us.
