Episode 92: Exploring 5 Blind Spots I Discovered
Introduction: Hey there, wonderful listeners! Welcome back to another awesome episode of the Maeve Ferguson Podcast. I'm thrilled to dive into a topic that's close to my heart - the five blind spots I recently uncovered. These insights are valuable for everyone, and I'm excited to share them with you today.
The Amazing Guest: Before we jump in, let me tell you about an incredible guest who's soon joining us for episode 100. Amelia, an exceptional real estate investment coach and a dear friend, will be gracing our podcast. She's all about building generational wealth through real estate, and I can't wait for you to hear her insights. Keep an eye out for her episode! You can take Amelia's quiz here
Blind Spot 1: Stories I Tell Myself: Lat weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting Amelia, who's both a client and a friend. Spending time together opened my eyes to a massive blind spot: the stories I've unknowingly crafted around my personal life. I thought I was free from these narratives, but turns out, I had built quite a collection, especially after the arrival of my second child. I realized that personal transformation is an ongoing journey, and it's easy to get trapped in stories we create. It's time to question those narratives!
Action Step: Take a moment to reflect on the narratives you've constructed about your life. Are they true, or are they just stories? Imagine someone giving you a reality check - a "wet fish slap" - to wake you up to the fact that these are just stories. What would that wake-up call look like for you?
Blind Spot 2: Solutions in Business vs. Personal Life: I pride myself on being solution-oriented in my business, helping coaches find solutions for their challenges. However, when it came to my personal life, I realized I was stuck in a different mindset. A wedding invitation arrived that required me to travel, leaving my children behind. Initially, I felt overwhelmed and believed it was impossible. But Amelia's perspective and support helped me see that creative solutions are possible when we're open to them.
Action Step: Think about a problem you're facing in your personal life. Are you approaching it with the same solution-oriented mindset you have in your business? Challenge yourself to consider alternative solutions, even if they seem unconventional.
Blind Spot 3: The Value of Rest and Relaxation: I've always been passionate about my work, often neglecting rest and relaxation. Spending quality time with Amelia made me realize that downtime and laughter are just as crucial as work. During our spa day and heart-to-heart conversations, I felt rejuvenated. It hit me that rest is an essential component of high performance.
Action Step: Evaluate your work-life balance. Are you giving yourself enough time to rest and relax? Consider activities that recharge you, whether it's binge-watching a show, reading a book, or simply spending time with loved ones.
Blind Spot 4: The Power of a Dream Team: Having a supportive and capable team can make or break your business. When I fell ill, my incredible copywriting coach stepped up and saved the day. This highlighted the importance of having a dream team to rely on, even outside of business contexts.
Action Step: Reflect on your team, both in your business and personal life. Are you nurturing a network of support? Whether it's colleagues, friends, or family, having a strong support system can make a world of difference.
Blind Spot 5: The Health and High-Performance Connection: My health and diet habits were often all or nothing - extreme periods of discipline followed by indulgent days. However, I realized that my well-being directly impacts my business performance. Aligning health and high performance became a priority, as I recognized that a balanced approach yields better results.
Action Step: Consider the connection between your health and your ability to perform in your professional life. How can you integrate healthier habits that contribute to your overall high performance? Remember, it's not about perfection, but consistent progress.
Conclusion: That's a wrap on today's episode, where we explored five eye-opening blind spots I discovered. Remember, we're all on a journey of growth, and recognizing our blind spots is a step toward becoming our best selves.
