Harlem small business trailblazer Lawrence King talks Harlem small businesses, the COVID Crisis, and more with host Danny Tisdale, on The Danny Tisdale Show.

Lawrence has over 20 years of experience in small business and economic development. Along with advising the clients of the Columbia-Harlem SBDC, he is currently a Small Business Development Advisor at the Harlem Business Alliance (HBA), using his skills to provide hands-on counseling to start-ups and existing business enterprises in Central and East Harlem. Prior to joining the HBA, he was the Director of Small Business Development at the Abyssinian Development Corporation (ADC). In that role, he managed the implementation of the Avenue NYC Program which spurred public and private investment to the Abyssinian Neighborhood commercial corridors. He also oversaw the ADC Small Business Development Center and all related small business technical assistance activities. Lawrence's wide-ranging career history has also included being the Director of Programs at the North Carolina Assn. of Community Development Corporations and the Director for Economic Development for the City of Newark. Lawrence earned a BA from The George Washington University and attended the graduate program in Urban Planning at the New York University Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
