In the ongoing trial of Richard Allen, who is accused of the 2017 murders of Libby German and Abby Williams in Delphi, Indiana, new developments have emerged that could significantly impact the case.
Recent hearings have focused on several key pieces of evidence, including confessions Allen allegedly made while in prison. According to investigators, Allen confessed to the murders more than 60 times while in custody, both in conversations with prison staff and during phone calls with his wife and mother. Some of these confessions reportedly included details that only the perpetrator would know. However, the defense argues that these confessions were made during a period of severe mental health deterioration, including stress-induced psychosis, which raises questions about their reliability.
Additionally, evidence found on Libby German's cell phone might play a crucial role in the prosecution's case. Libby had recorded a video shortly before her death, capturing the voice of a man saying "down the hill," which the prosecution believes is Richard Allen. This piece of evidence, along with the confessions, could be pivotal in establishing Allen's connection to the crime.
The trial, which has seen multiple delays, is now scheduled for October 2024, with these pieces of evidence expected to be central to the prosecution's arguments.
