This is part 1 of our “Selection Box” challenge, that we kicked off yesterday on the Podcast.

Over the course of the next five days, we are going to show you how to produce various different types of blog posts or videos or indeed podcasts, that will keep your readers engaged over the festive period and help you stand out from the crowd.

Listen to it in the player above or check out episode 51 on iTunes here.

Your Task Will Be to Do 3 Things:

  • Write Your Post – Come up with a relevant topic for your blog and write a post in the style we have addressed in the challenge and publish the post the same day.

  • Share with Other Challengers – Join the Content Academy MasterMind Group and share with others participating in the challenge. The group adds accountability and networking opportunities.

  • Visit Other Challenger Posts – Leave a comment or follow on social media

Today’s Challenge: Create a List Post

In today’s episode, Phil discusses why list posts are so easy to create and how they can be easily consumed and shared by your audience.

Phil goes into some detail about the three types of “list post” that you can create over the next 24 hours. They are:

  • A short list post – This consists of just a short introduction, a list and a conclusion. In some cases, bloggers don’t even bother with a conclusion. It is just one or two lines of an intro and then a series of bullet points.

You can check out “25 Things Women Wish Men Knew” as an example of what a short list post might look like, although even that one has more writing than you would need to put in if you were tight on time.

  • Longer list post– This is pretty much the same as a short list post only it goes into a little more detail after each point. So it’s generally a list item followed by a paragraph or two of an explanation.

You can check out “10 periscope tips proven to get you more love” as an example of what a longer list post might look like.

  • A list within a post– This one is as it says, it’s a normal blog article that you might write only this time you have included a list within the article.

You can check out “Overland from Cape Town to Cairo” as an example of what a list within a post might look like.
