In the latest episode of The Backlog Podcast by ADAPTOVATE we are celebrating World Autism Day on April 2. "Just because someone is diagnosed with autism, doesn't mean they can't add so much value to the workplace. These are brilliant individuals, who performance can often proceed the norm" - MariAnn Gattelaro.
In 1980, Autism diagnoses were approximately four in 10,000. In the 90s, that number jumped to one in 2,500, while later in the decade one in 1,000 children were diagnosed. The numbers are now at one in 36 children being diagnosed on the spectrum.
To celebrate World Autism Day, our leader of People & Culture Lené Marx joined Mariann Gattelaro, a licensed professional counsellor supervisor, in a fascinating conversation that helps us understand how workplaces can ensure neurodiversity is not only supported , but celebrated in the hiring process and our workplaces.
