How can we create the magic of freedom for the Animals? This inspirational interview with our guest—activist, and hardcore Harry Potter fan—Tylor Starr might be the perfect potion for your dose of inspiration! Tylor and AAM mentor Shriya chat about Tylor's childhood stories that sparked his fire for Animal Liberation and love for Harry Potter. In time, he would bring these two passions together to Co-Create the Protego Foundation, a Wizarding World-themed non-profit organization.
He is also a proud nerd when it comes to the history of the Grassroots, Direct Action Animal Rights Movement. Owing to this avid interest, he joined forces with former podcast guest, and our favorite uber strategic activist, Jake Conroy, to start the Radicals and Revolutionaries podcast. Each episode features OG activists from the early days of direct action, which will leave you rib-tickled and awe-inspired!
Shriya and Tylor also discuss the evolution of the direct action space, the representation of Black, Indigenous, and People of the Global Majority, and other marginalized groups in "high risk" actions, and the importance of the increasing, essential discourse around centering diversity and equity in the animal rights movement.
