THE MUPPET MOVIE
Manage episode 429267985 series 3586720
Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear are the yin/yang of Dad Energy.
Kermit: Moral. Respected. The clear leader. Perhaps a tad dorky, but effective. If you saw Kermit wearing cargo pants, you would not be surprised. A collaborator, but with a vision. He is what all Dads aspire to be.
Fozzie: Relentlessly mocked, justifiably so. His laughs come from pity, not amusement. He panics when given responsibility. He drives, but poorly. He is simultaneously vestigial and functionary. He is what all Dads, upon reflection, know themselves to be.
The cameos. The songs. The bicycles. The metatheatricality. It's all aged just like you hope your Dad has: sure, you can see the seams, but damn if this isn't the movie you can't wait to see every few months when he's here to visit the grandkids. Enjoy Jim Frawley's foray into the Hensoniverse, 1979's THE MUPPET MOVIE.
