Audio Transcript

Hello, this is Tim.

And this is Vie and we welcome you to another episode of the spartan mind strength podcast.

And what’s this episode about?

This episode is about the Upanishads, astrology, ayurveda and of course Ganesha.

All in 10 minutes?

All in 10 minutes.

Awesome.

Stay tuned. We’ll be right back.

We’re back. And we’re talking about ayurveda, astrology, the Upanishads and Ganesha.

That takes almost 10 minutes just to say.

I know.

So how are you going to bring all these together?

Well, first we have to start with Ganesha, right?

Of course. Om Gum Ganapataye Namaha.

Exactly.

Because it started a couple of days ago.

Yes. Ganesha Chaturthi.

Actually, by the time this comes out, it’ll have already started.

Yes. So Ganesha the elephant headed deity that -

-- Came from Greece

Well, from Egypt, through Greece, to India, right?

He’s very often associated with the root chakra, the elephant. And, we mentioned in the previous episode that the elephant is, can be thought of as the essence of the Kapha bioenergy, right.

So the root chakra is all about faith in a higher power, right? We've talked extensively about the root chakra that’s associated with faith in a higher power.

Now, the Upanishads say -

-- Ok, I’m waiting to hear this

The Upanishads say that no matter what you do with your existence, right - because the Upanishads are all about the personal experience -

Yes.

The individual existence, the individual experience, they say, no matter what you do with it, you have to always keep in mind that everything comes from God and everything returns to God and that’s what unites us all.

So it’s very, very interesting that the Upanishads highly emphasize that. And that is the faith in a higher power, associated with the root chakra. And that’s where a lot of the confusion happens today. When people get into the spiritual affairs and shoot straight for the third eye.

Yes. I know. And it still is, on our podcast, the number one out of the chakras for business is always the third eye.

Exactly.

Because they know everything else.

Well, to talk even about a way more realistic example, a couple of days ago, there were three aspiring yogis in the studio talking about third eye imbalances for certain people, and they were completely oblivious to the fact that it all starts from the root chakra.

Yup. There wouldn’t have been any third eye imbalance if they would have fixed the root chakra.

So all the aspiring yogis that think they know everything, they have been practicing a couple of years, all of a sudden know that they’re enlightened enough for the third chakra to be the only area that they need -

-- the third eye to be the only area that they need to work on.

Exactly. And now you have, you have the whole Vedic literature of the Upanishads talking about, be careful of the root chakra, right, you have other, other world, philosophies and mythologies, right, Joseph Campbell, Joseph Campbell -

-- who spent almost a lifetime studying

Exactly, talked about the importance of the root chakra. So you have Ganesha telling you, be grounded -

-- work on your kapha

Exactly. But of course, what do they all know?

What do we know?

What do we know? So, then the other aspect of the Upanishads is, one of the very, very important teachings, and I’m going to read it because I want it to sound poetic.

Ok. And of course when you read, you are more poetic.

Anything that I say from memory doesn’t sound poetic.

It says - and that comes from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad which is also translated as the tails of the forest. So it says -

you are, what your deep driving desire is

as your desire is, so is your will

as your will is, so is your deed

as your deed is, so is your destiny

So what makes you who you are is your subconscious. It’s not your conscious. Your conscious is being wasted most of the time, right. It’s your subconscious, your deep, deep, deep driving desire. That’s what creates your destiny. That’s what creates your karma. So when people, again, in the commodity astrology world talk -

Oh, we’ve just shifted to astrology now, so you had to get that in there.

But I’m going to bring it all together.

Ok.

When they talk -

Because you’ve even touched on tantra with the root chakra -

When, when they talk about karma and especially blaming Saturn for that, what they forget is that what our subconscious is, that creates our actions that creates our destiny.

So what karma - and actually karma in Sanskrit means action - Our actions create our karma. That’s our individuality, right? So we have, being part of something bigger, we have what unites us all. But our individuality comes from our subconscious, from our deep driving desire.

So no matter what we do, no matter what we do, we all come from God and we go back to God.

And actually, even Joseph Campbell says that. And each one of us has our own God.

Exactly.

So you can’t say your God is, is my God. Because each one of us has our own image of who God is.

Exactly. Because God is shaped by our individuality. And that comes from our subconscious, from our deep driving desire.

Okay. I want to just see if you can do this in less than two minutes, do atheists then, have a God?

Yes. They do. They don’t call it God, but they do have a God. Absolutely. They totally have a God. Because they have their individuality and they have their subconscious.

They may not be aware of it, but they still have a God. And that’s where the awareness comes in. The awareness depends on the person’s individuality, right? What makes it up to the conscious, that’s where the awareness is. Are we aware of it? So how much of your subconscious has actually become conscious.

Ok.

And you’ve got to be very careful because when intense parts of our subconscious become conscious, that’s where schizophrenia happens. And actually Jordan Peterson talks a lot about it, the shadow, right?

Yes. Yes.

So you have to be, you have to be very careful what you allow there. So someone who’s claiming flat out that they are an atheist, they still believe in something, but they -

-- They refuse to give it a name.

They refuse to give it a name, whether consciously or subconsciously or unconsciously even.

Wow.

They refuse to give it a name.

You did that very quickly.

So that's where astrology, Ganesha, ayurveda, your Kapha and the Upanishads are all telling us, they are actually warning us, that we have to work on our awareness.

And awareness is at all different levels.

Exactly.

Because Ganesha is earthly. He’s the God of all of the people.

Yes.

He has so many different representations.

Yes.

And isn’t he also the leader of the planets?

Yes. He’s also, he’s also our intermediary with the planets with the navagrahas, the nine planets, seven plus two. We can talk about that in a different episode.

He’s also the intermediary with the planets because the people realized that they have, yes, they have to tame nature, they have to appease nature, but there is something out there that they also need to work with.

So we can actually say that if we’re bringing in awareness, Ganesha is actually the god of ayurvedic awareness.

He is. He is the god of ayurvedic awareness. And he operates at many levels.

Until next time, much, much love from both of us. Na’maste kala! May we all be well, adapt and thrive.
