Tonight’s scripture from Joel 2:8 speaks of the orderly march of locusts and draws a fascinating parallel to the spiritual life of believers, emphasizing the importance of harmony and order in our walk with Christ.

Key Points:

  1. Divine Order: Locusts, though numerous, maintain their ranks without jostling each other. This reflects the divine order God has infused into His creation, showing how even the smallest creatures are governed by it.
  2. Balance of Virtues: In our spiritual lives, no single virtue should overshadow another. Love should not overwhelm honesty, courage should not push aside gentleness, modesty should not hinder energy, and patience should not destroy determination. Each virtue must find its proper place.
  3. Harmony of Duties: Our duties should not interfere with one another. Public service should not damage personal piety, and church work should not neglect family worship. Offering one duty at the expense of another is not pleasing to God.
  4. Respecting Roles: We must know our place within the body of Christ, serving faithfully without envy or ambition. Jesus taught us to be willing to be the least among our brethren, avoiding the desire for high positions.
