*********************[TW: sexual assault, detailed]***************************

Content Warning: In the latest podcast episode, we discuss a movie that addresses sensitive topics, including sexual assault. We understand the gravity of these themes and recognize their potential to be triggering for some listeners. We encourage discretion and self-care. If you or someone you know may be affected by these discussions, we advise listener discretion and encourage seeking support from appropriate resources. Remember, your well-being is our priority.

This week I'm joined by William R.A. Rush. William is a WGA member who has written the Stephen King adaptation, “One For The Road”, as well as the registered feature screenplays “Group”, “Immersion”, and “Sweetener”. He is currently working on several scripts, and developing a New York City-based play into a feature film in 2024. We discuss Ken Russel's "The Devils", a cinematic masterpiece that warrants attention for its bold and provocative exploration of religious and political themes. Released in 1971, the film details the events surrounding the alleged possessions and trials of a group of Ursuline nuns in 17th-century France. Russell's direction is visually stunning, combining period detail with avant-garde elements. The film's fearless portrayal of corruption within the church, state, and society challenges societal norms and raises questions about the abuse of power. "The Devils" is a thought-provoking and visually arresting experience that transcends conventional storytelling, making it a must-watch for those appreciative of bold filmmaking and social commentary. Join us in The Confessional.
