Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I’m your host, Andrew McGivern, and today is November 2nd.
Today is Be the Impact Day, a day that’s all about realizing that you can be the force for good in someone’s life, even if you don’t realize it in the moment. Making a difference doesn’t need a big plan or a big title – just a willingness to step in where it matters, however big or small the action.
And I think today’s quote speaks to that spirit. It’s from Dr. Jane Goodall, who said:
“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
Goodall's words remind us that we’re making an impact whether we’re aware of it or not. It’s a bit like throwing pebbles into a pond; you might only see the splash at first, but that impact ripples out far beyond what you can see. Each choice you make sends out waves into the world around you. Even a small decision – like taking a moment to really listen to someone – can leave a lasting effect.
On Be the Impact Day, think of the ways you can choose your ripples. It might mean being more generous with your time, spreading kindness, or even just deciding not to react negatively in a tough moment. None of it is wasted. Who knows, that one little effort on your part could be the reason someone else finds their spark.
So, here’s to the impact you make every day, knowingly or unknowingly. You have the choice to shape it, to make it something that uplifts you and those around you.
And maybe it would be better to be intentional about your ripples. Maybe deciding the kind of difference you want to make will not only help others but yourself too.
Thanks for tuning in and being here with me today. Until next time, remember, it doesn’t have to be a big deal to matter. Little ripples will compound over time.
